All are made from 10V Steel.
The deep bowl gouge sizes refer to the diameter of the bar stock from
which they are milled. The 1/2" and 5/8" deep gouges with 16"
and 18" handles and 11" tool lengths are recommended for most
applications. Available 10V High Speed Steel (10%
vanadium = red handle).
15V High Speed Steel (15% vanadium = black handle)
The Glaser Side-grind on his deep bowl gouges. Note the Superflute geometry
of the gullet. These are denoted as Oval-bowl gouges. Gouges with a round
gullet are also going to be produced, denoted as a U-Bowl gouge

Detail gouges have very shallow flutes and are pre-ground into a delicate fingernail shape. Spindle, or shallow gouges, have a flute that comes to the center of the bar stock. The 1" shallow gouge is an excellent choice for roughing-out and cutting long curves in spindle work, while the 5/8" shallow gouge is wonderful for both spindle and faceplate work. The 9/16" shallow gouge was designed for noted turned Bob Stocksdale. Tools in 10V steel.

Glaser makes 10V round-nosed scrapers that are ideal for bowl and box work. Thick cross sections dampen vibration and facilitate controlled cuts. The 1" scraper is 3/8" thick, while the 5/8" scraper is 5/16" thick.
